Pediatric Advanced Life Support- 2 Day Provider Course

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is a classroom, video-based, Instructor-led course that uses a series of simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation and team dynamics. The goal of the PALS Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes.

Terms and Conditions of Registration

CPR AED and Safety Education prides itself in providing the highest quality of instruction. In order to provide the best experience possible for students, we require you to agree to the following terms.

General

* The American Heart Association requires that students possess the latest edition of the student manual. You must have the 2020 AHA PALS Provider Manual (item #20-1119), which you can purchase from any approved AHA vendor. You must have the book during the class. If you do not already have this book you can pay the book fee + tax ($59.36) in the course registration/payment area and we will arrange to get the book to you.

*The PALS written exam is now done online. Please bring with you to class either a:  Laptop, Tablet or Smartphone to complete this online exam.

*Prerequisites for class: 

  1. Review and understand the information in your PALS Provider Manual.
  2. Visit https://elearning.heart.org/course/426. Note: If you haven’t already logged in, the system will ask you to do so. If you haven’t visited the site before, you’ll be prompted to set up an account.
  3. Select Launch Course to begin.
  4. Review, understand, and pass the mandatory pre-course self-assessment. Please print your results and bring with you to class.
  5. Review, understand, and complete the mandatory pre-course work (video lessons). You must pass the pre-course self-assessment before gaining access to the video lessons. Once you have passed the PALS Pre-course Self-Assessment and completed the video lessons, print your certificate, and bring it with you to class.
  6. Ensure that your BLS skills and knowledge are current for the resuscitation scenarios. You will be tested on adult high-quality BLS skills using a feedback manikin at the beginning of the PALS Course. You must know this in advance because you will not be taught how to do CPR or use an AED.

Course Attendance and Refund Policy

CPR AED and Safety Education wishes to accommodate students who have unforeseen circumstances that may affect their ability to attend class. Students who wish to cancel or will be late to class must call 301-681-4300 in advance. Leave a message if there is no answer. We are unable to provide consideration to those who do not call in advance.

* Calls 48 business hours prior to the scheduled session may reschedule to a different session without penalty. If requested, a refund for course fees will be issued minus a $10.00 administrative fee. We are sorry but we are unable to refund book fees once they are issued to students.

* Calls less than 48 business hours and more than 24 business hours prior to the scheduled session may reschedule to a different session after paying a $25.00 transfer fee. There will be no refunds.

* Calls less than 24 business hours prior to the scheduled session will not be refunded and may not be rescheduled.

No Shows

No shows are defined as students who do not call prior to the scheduled course start time to cancel or reschedule their session.

* We apologize but we are unable to issue refunds or course transfers who are no shows.

Late to Class

Course schedules are strictly followed to respect student schedules.

* Students who call 301-681-4300 to advise of the possibility of being late will receive consideration by the coordinator-on-call. If the estimated arrival would be detrimental to the course, other participants, and/or the instructor, the student will not be allowed into the class. There will be no refunds or option to transfer.

* Students who do not call and arrive late will not be admitted to the course and will forfeit their course fee.
